and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses. —Acts 10:43
Moses’ law does not justify; faith alone in Christ alone does. The beginning of the verse is reminiscent to Jesus’ words in John 3:16 (“…whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”).
The Law was a mirror, showing us our sin and our inability to meet God’s holy standard. It could diagnose the problem, but it could not provide the cure. We are reminded here that the remedy was never found in our own efforts or adherence to the rules, but in the finished work of Jesus. When we place our trust in Him, we are declared righteous…not because of what we have done, but because of who He is and what He has accomplished. This is the heart of the Gospel: we are enough in Him, not because of our performance, but because of His grace.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You that I am not saved by my own works or by trying harder to keep the law. Thank You that in Christ, I am made fully acceptable to You. Remind my heart today that justification comes only through faith in Jesus. Let me rest in the truth that I am enough in Him. Amen.
