Life That Death Cannot Touch
Eternal life begins the moment you believe.
“And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
—John 11:26
Only in this life can people believe and be born again, and Jesus guarantees that the one who believes in Him will never die spiritually.
In the shadow of Lazarus’s tomb, Jesus spoke these powerful words to a grieving Martha. He didn’t just promise a future resurrection—He declared Himself to be the Resurrection and the Life. Physical death may come for every person, but for those who believe in Jesus, spiritual death has already been defeated. The moment we place our faith alone in Christ, we are born again into everlasting life, a life that cannot be taken away.
Today’s verse brings comfort and urgency. Comfort, because no matter what happens in this body, your eternal soul is secure in Christ. Urgency, because this life is the only opportunity we have to respond to God’s invitation. Faith is not something we can postpone until the next world.
Jesus ends His statement with a personal question that echoes across the centuries: “Do you believe this?” It’s not enough to admire the teaching or respect the Teacher. Eternal life hinges on a wholehearted yes to Jesus—the One who conquered death so we could live.
When you believe, you step into a life that death cannot touch. You become part of a family that will never be separated. You receive a hope that outlasts every trial. Jesus is enough—more than enough—to carry you through this life and into the next without fear.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I believe You are the Resurrection and the Life. Thank You that because I have trusted in You, I will never die spiritually. Forgive me for the times I have lived as if this life is all there is. Fill me with the joy and urgency of Your eternal promise. Help me to share this good news with others while there is still time. I trust You completely with my life. In Your mighty name, Amen.
