Intro to Unsinkable: 30 Days of Walking on Waves with Jesus
Experience the joy of walking on waves with Jesus.
Welcome to a journey that isn’t about finding a feeling, but about following a Person.
Over the next 30 non-consecutive days, Faith Saves with Michael Barber is going to explore a truth that is often lost in the noise of our daily routines: Joy is not a destination we reach; Joy is the Person we walk with. If we spend our lives chasing “happiness,” we end up exhausted by the search. But when we fix our eyes on Christ, we find an anchor that holds even when the ground beneath us turns to water.
The theme of this series is Experience the Joy of Walking on Waves with Jesus. When Peter stepped out of the boat in Matthew 14, he wasn’t doing something “logical.” By every human “measuring rod,” he should have sunk. But Peter discovered a secret that changes everything: the waves that threaten to swallow us are the very same waves Jesus uses as His pavement.
Walking on waves isn’t about having a “perfect” life; it’s about having a rightly ordered focus.
In this series, we will move away from the idea that joy is something Jesus gives us and toward the realization that Jesus is our joy.
In John 15:11, Jesus said, “I have told you these things so that my joy may be in you and your joy may be complete.” He didn’t promise us a life without storms; He promised us His presence within them. True joy is “carefree” not because the storm has stopped, but because the One who controls the storm is holding our hand.
What to Expect
Each article in the series seeks a fresh perspective on the Savior. We will look at:
The Focus: How to keep our eyes on the Anchor when the wind howls.
The Step: What it looks like to move from our own control into the extraordinary grace of His.
The Person: Deepening our understanding of the Character of Christ, the true source of our strength.
As you begin this series, remember that Peter only began to sink when he shifted his gaze from the Person to the Problem.
Get ready to climb out of the boat. The message isn’t just that Jesus rescues us from the waves—it’s that He invites us to walk on them with Him.
