Eternal Life by a Single Look
Looking to Jesus is enough.
“And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” —John 3:14-15
In the wilderness, dying Israelites were healed the moment they looked at the bronze serpent Moses lifted up on a pole. They didn’t have to clean themselves first. They didn’t have to promise better behavior. They simply looked in faith—and they lived.
Jesus says the same thing about Himself. Just as that serpent was lifted up, He would be lifted up on the cross. Now, whoever looks to Him in faith receives eternal life. No long process. No religious checklist. Just one believing look at the Savior who was lifted up for our sins.
By looking in faith to the uplifted Messiah, we enter into a life which can never be lost.
Eternal life is not earned by years of good works or religious effort. A life that never ends is received the instant you look to Jesus and believe in Him for His life-saving promise.
Take a moment today to thank Him that because you have believed in Him, you already possess eternal life that can never be taken away. Rest in the beautiful truth that one look at the uplifted Savior was enough.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You that eternal life is not earned by striving but received by faith alone in Christ alone. Just as the Israelites were healed by looking at the serpent, I look to Jesus, lifted up on the cross for my sins. I believe in His promise of everlasting life, a life that lasts forever. Help me rest in this simple, glorious truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
