Enough for Eternal Hope
Faith in the face of death.
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.” —John 11:25
Standing before a grieving Martha and the tomb of her brother Lazarus, Jesus doesn’t merely promise a future resurrection, He declares that He is the resurrection and the life. The power to overcome death is not something He possesses; it is who He is.
The sole condition is simple yet profound: believe in Jesus. Not perfect behavior, not religious achievement, not emotional intensity, just belief in Him as the One who holds life in His hands.
The result is breathtaking certainty: all who believe in Jesus will experience the resurrection of life. Physical death is not the end for the believer. Though we may die, we shall live. Because Jesus lives, those united to Him by faith will live also. Spiritual death is defeated forever, and the believer possesses a life that transcends the grave—secured not by human strength, but by His power.
This promise anchors us in every season of loss, grief, or uncertainty. Jesus is enough, even when everything else is taken away, because He guarantees our future beyond the grave. When the temporary fades and the final enemy approaches, Jesus remains. He is enough for your last breath and for every breath that follows in eternity.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are the Resurrection and the Life. Today I choose to believe in You. Thank You that my hope is not in my strength, my goodness, or my circumstances, but in who You are. Because I believe in You, I have the certain promise of resurrection life. Comfort me in every grief, steady me in every fear of death, and fill me with living hope. Help me live today with eternity in view, knowing that You are more than enough for this life and the one to come. In Your powerful name, Amen.
